About

Welcome to Knitting for Wellness, a community-driven project dedicated to promoting mental wellness through the art of knitting.

Knitting is more than just a craft – it is a powerful tool for self-care that can help individuals of all ages and backgrounds improve their mental health and well-being. Knitting is recognized worldwide as an accessible and portable tool for mental wellness, offering a wide range of benefits from anxiety reduction and stress management to providing social and community connection and supporting creative and mental stimulation. Our mission is to encourage and enable people to use this wellness tool by bringing knitting to anyone willing to learn it.

We understand that while there are endless resources online for knitting, for first-time knitters, nothing can replace in-person knitting instruction and one-on-one guidance. Knitting for Wellness offers custom group workshops and one-on-one instruction, so new knitters can receive personalized guidance and support from experienced knitters. Additionally, new knitters receive a special “knit kit” with supplies and a project with a few pre-knit rows, allowing them to build confidence within an hour and unlock a new zen practice.

We believe that anyone can learn to knit, regardless of their age or skill level. Our workshops and instructional sessions are designed to be fun, relaxed, and accessible, so everyone can feel comfortable and confident while learning this new skill.

Knitting for Wellness is a non-profit project, driven by the generosity of our community of volunteers and donors. We rely on donated supplies and the time and expertise of our volunteers to make this project possible. Our goal is to make knitting accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial resources, and to promote mental wellness and self-care through this wonderful craft. If you’re interested in hosting a workshop, volunteering your time, or donating supplies, connect with us through the link below, we look forward to chatting with you.
